You probably have a great point here. I was thinking the same thing. The doctors keep you coming into the hospitals for check ups for this and that. In the end, its up to you to be fit and healthy. If you think you are sick, you probably are. Just live and let live in your terms I suppose. How about good SCREENING? PREVENTIVE CARE goes a lot further than fixing something when its broke. Long as there is good screening in Ecuador or anywhere else, and I am sure there is. I find it rough to trust a good doctor. I changed from one to another because I got tired of his constant wanting me to keep coming in for all these what I thought were bogus test. He was scaring me more than anything else. He called it being "Aggressive" in treating possible problems. Go wave those "pom poms" to a kid. I think you can accomplish the same without being over zealous. When you go to a hospital here in the states, it's all about money and all about joining a SYSTEM that is somewhat broke. It's frustrating. Though there may be good medical care wedged in all of that, the financial and red tape system is very complicated and it pisses me off. As though I'm expected to interpret what the results say and how much money I owe.... It all depends on a lot of factors. Some doctors are good, some are bad. Very capitalistic.
That is why I do dental in El Salvador. Dentist just pushed me over the edge.
