I still don't understand why you think an OAL zed ticket entitles you an upgrade. If you are entitled to use S3D, that's just for boarding--you are only entitled to be ticketed in Y, no matter your priority code. Should be no different for AA or UA or AS or any OAL if it's zed ticket--low, med, high, if the class is J. Times have changed if you are accustomed to getting upgraded on DL ; just trying to explain what I experience on a frequent basis when I nonrev (usually once or twice a month) on our AC.
I've talked w/INT cabin crews on DL (often) and they hate to be put in a difficult situation about upgrading onboard for OAL or partner airline employees on zeds. A lines/leaders tell me they've been intruded on while boarding and it makes such a scene and they typically won't tolerate anything after boarding passes are issued.
All that aside, I'll be happy to check loads if I can.

Yes, as a Delta codeshare partner you would list as S3D and that will allow the gate agents to clear you before all S4's including Delta employee buddy passriders...and it entitles you to coach class only...if you are on a thru flight with same flight number you would be above all S3D's and S4's who would board at that stopping point, but you could be pulled off for anyone traveling on higher priority...
The issue with coach vs 1st or business is this - it all depends on the gate agent working the flight...I know some gate agents who were "wronged" (their words not mine) and placed in coach on skyteam or codeshare flights with 1st or biz wide open, and will only put those employees in coach, then there are agents like me who will put anyone in 1st or biz they can because it is the best thing to do...the issue is the S3D is inhibited and will not allow you to be placed in 1st or biz, the gate agent has to change your priority to S4 to be able to place you in 1st or biz...
thanks for answering my question, Thats what i wanted to know. You learn something new everyday. We all know its up to the gate agent, i always bring Godiva. load check would be great
happy to check actual dates when it comes around
We'll likely be on our way to/from Beijing first 2 wks Feb, so just let me know what works best a little in advance

its been years since i have flown on Delta. i was dressed in slacks, collared shirt and dress shoes and was denied boarding out of Mia in 1995, i was able to get on the flt cause they had a suit jacket and tie for me to wear. I guess it was a strict dress code policy for nonrev. Im curious to know the dress code now. thx
The dress code is now, in my opinion, way too relaxed....you are allowed to wear shorts, t-shirts and flipflops (even in 1st) as long as the items are clean and no offensive slogans or pictures on the tshirt...no midriff shirts, PJ's, dirty or torn clothes, houseshoes and you should be fine...
