love4air, if you do not have access to travelnet have your friend who put you as their travel companion look costs up. I would think that yield fares go off of milage so a direct flight would be best. Because the yield fare calculator does not show the flights to hnl, or nrt for that matter, the only way to know the price is to get yourself listed. Also the yield fare calculator and buddy pass calculator are not always correct. I would think the den-msp-nrt would be the lower cost option.
