Hi -
I have been reading about delta companion passes and would love to get one. My fiancee just moved to Paris and we are going to try and do the long distance thing for a while. A friend of mine told me about the possibility of being an employee's travel companion and I decided to look into it.
I know about the fees that must be paid based on the distance. I was wondering if the pass allows for travel on Air France as well as Delta or if its limitted to Delta.
My Fiancee's job takes her to Ivory Coast for 2 weeks in the month and although I can book a ticket on Delta.com to Abj, only Air France services the CDG-ABJ leg.
If anyone has any other details on the Delta Anuual Companion Program, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks.

Delta Travel Companions are allowed to travel on Delta and Delta Connection aircraft only...Travel Companions are not allowed to travel on other airlines...

it's quite difficult for nonrev travel even on Delta to our African destinations. there are frequent embargoes on flights. Is she the employee? If you're the companion, you can take your chances but the fees are $$ plus visas in some cases--on top of the mileage. If she's going for work on your companion pass, that's a no-no. You can lose pass priv and/or be terminated.
Congrats on the pending marriage and good luck!!

She's not an employee...a friend of mine suggested I get on as his travel companion while we try the long distance thing. Neither she nor I would be traveling for business. Thanks for the info though!

well, DUH--I can be such a doof!
I have friends who have friends as companions on their passes--why didn't I think of that?
Just bear in mind that if he designates you as " travel companion", his parents' rights change
(diminishes their privs)
You can fly on some codeshare AF flts but that probably would NOT include anything like what you need, of course!
I'd say that's a really nice friend, but ck pricing /visas. etc. Dunno if Ivory Coast requires yellow fever vaccine, or visas but flying into Dakar or Accra can be up to $100, some airport fees/taxes can exceed $50+ fare costs. And, of course, if he doesn't have high seniority, getting on some Delta flights in nearly impossible.
I'd spend as much time smooching in Paris and just try to find deals to meet her sometime. Maybe the AF thing will change but probably not too soon, even with the new agreements starting. Good luck!

If you are going to be added as a Travel Companion, you will have the same flight benfits as they do. You can Non-rev on any airlines that we have a code share with. Sky Team is our partners. We use to have ID-95 with most of the other carriers, but the now call it something different. You basically pay a small yield fare fee. So if the place you wish to go is with our partners, you just non-rev and the employee will pay the international fee's if there is any. Now if you are trying to use a buddy pass, I think you can only use them on our flight's, but not 100% sure on that.

Regular Travel Companions only have the same flight benefits on Delta and Delta Connection flights and cannot fly on any other airline, including SkyTeam members. The same goes for Buddy Passes.

As with everything in life there are exceptions - If you are on pass privileges as a Travel Companion/Domestic Partner and registered with Delta (proof of financial and other obligations required) there are a couple of airlines (Air France is one) that will allow you to travel nonrev.

Hi Cobrakev. Just wanted to let you know if you have a companion, they don't get the same priv as employee. Only partner travel on codeshare flights with yield fare. No IDs unless codeshare flight numbers and can be purchased as yield fare tkts. No discount confirmed fares either. This is different from domestic partner travel priv. It gets complicated but I didn't want anyone to have any problems planning a trip.
