    Default Ryanair

Does anyone know which airports have both Ryanair and DL? Or at least which ones are easy to get from one airport to the other? We don't get ZEDs and I am planning to go to Ireland and Scotland in a few weeks, I thought it might be worth paying for a few tickets to other airports to provide more options for getting home. Buying in advance, they are cheap, but I know waiting until I get stuck in an airport, they will be much more expensive. I'm just traveling with a backpack that fits under the seat in front of me, so I won't run into any of the luggage fees (well, I'm working on the weight, do you know if they weigh them or only if they look heavy).

Don't know off the top of my head, but open up two browser tabs/windows. One with Delta's route map and one with Ryanair's. See which cities have both.

Keep in mind that Ryanair uses older/municipal airports in most cities. DL no longer flies Edinburgh. Take a look at Ryanair threads on tripadvisor. I believe they have agents w/rules and scales at the gates. Somehow, I think the limit is 7 kilos. Check out Easyjet?

When looking at the "big picture" of destinations, Wikipedia is amazing! You can see which airlines fly where out of which airports, and a list of an airline's destinations. Just keep in mind, sometimes direct (but not nonstop) flights will show up... for example, there's a UA flight that goes GUM-HNL-ORD, and the wiki page shows GUM as a UA destination from ORD. Also, sometimes a list is somewhat divided between a mainline carrier and their regional partners. Usually one has a link to the other if that's an issue, and overseas flights are almost always mainline anyway.

Here, this should help you out!

Unfortunately, the Delta one isn't as organized as United's, which goes by continent. However, if you group by country, you'll be a little more organized at least.

Ryanair I think was based out of Dallas. They had some deal out on the islands years ago flying tuna around and fish. They would go down to Ponphei, pick up a tone of tuna and fish, fly around the other islands in the Carolinians, Marshalls, Micronesia. I see them here in IAH at least a plane or two hanging out. Over by the cargo area. I didn't know they dealt with passengers. Probably do whatever it takes to make money type of airline.

I take that back. This is RYAN INTERNATIONAL AIRLINES that made these Pacific Island fish runs. I knew one of the mechanics, out there and he was from Dallas. I liked the smoked TUNA JERKY that came from Pohnpei island.

I worked for Ryan for almost 9 years. They were running the Guam/Saipan operation for the first six months or so after I started and it was an interesting thing. Some islands/atolls were just large enough for a runway and a dock. A boat would dock and a forklift would unload right into the plane, then off to Guam.

Ryan was based in Wichita until summer 2006 when we/they relocated to Rockford, IL.

There were two outfits out there, Ryan Air and Kitty Hawk. I remembered Ryan Air up and left once after some typhoon. I believe it had to have been sometime in late 1990's. One guy I worked with while on ships, hooked up with a Ryan Air pilot, and hitched a ride to MANADO in the Indonesian island of SULAWESI. He made his own way back after taking boats all over the place.

Shannon and Dublin are two DL airports with Ryanair also. Their airport websites have destinations included.
Manchester could also be an option. Bare in mind, Ryanair may not be that cheap if you are travelling in a couple of weeks, it is high season in Europe. And they are generally non-refundable. A flight from Ireland to Scotland might also work out cheaper if you take two sectors normally via London-Stansted as there is a higher frequency of flights between the islands via London. All sectors have to be book separately though.
Best of luck and happy travelling!
