Default Sandy east coast storm travel

For those unlucky non-rev travelers that are caught in the Sandy East Coast Storm
SA travel will be very troublesome.
Your only escape if not by surface - Amtrak or Bus could be by air - NO not space available
but remember your travel benefits the 'Fly For Less Discount' fares of 20% and even more - - -
While not cheap you can go on line and book a revenue positive space reservation from an East
Coast city to your home city or something that will afford you an opportunity to continue your
SA travel to there. I.E. you live in LAX - buy the reduced rate ticket from say LGA to ATL and
then use your pass from ATL to LAX. Or if less or slightly more expensive buy the ticket all the
way home like JFK to LAX.
Realize that there are going to be an awful amount of displaced revenue travelers but there
just might be a seat available to get you out of this mess.
There also is the option of the ZED fares but these are Space Available - but any seat getting
you out of the disaster area is better than leaving you in it.
Once Amtrak gets up and running full steam then you can go to BOS or PHL BWI DCA to get
maybe better odds at going home.
The same with Greyhound or whatever bus service is available.
On the reverse side of this equation maybe you need to get home to the east coast consider
talking to the car rental folks about renting a car one-way. With the amount of damage done
to the car rental business they might waive the one-way drop fee to have an adequate car
inventory while storm repairs are being made.
You can get home "No not buy clicking your heels three times and wishing you were Dorothy
    and home in Kansas"!
Think of everyway around and inside/outside the box to get you there !
Good Luck - hope this helps someone - - -

A good tip indeed. I think Delta and I know United have that option, but that's not necessarily the case for every airline. It could also be a good idea to take a train to Ohio or some place not so badly affected.
