Years (and years ago) when I worked for Western Airlines - the best route to Hawaii with a guaranteed seat was the ice and fire route MSP - SLC - ANC (Yes Anchorage not a misprint) - HNL. Haha, I think my "worst" routings were either getting to HNL one trip, EAU-ORD-SAN-LAX(overnight)-OGG-HNL, or maybe getting out of HNL that same trip, HNL-ORD-PDX-EUG. BUt hey, we made it!
R.M., where in MSP are you from? I'm a Bloomington native myself, and EAU (where I worked for a while) isn't too far away!.
