    DLNet/DNN news..........
Nonrevs asked to be at gate 35 minutes before departure
    November 5, 2013

As part of Delta’s continued focus on maintaining its industry-leading completion factor and on-time performance metrics, the pass travel team is offering tips on how employees can help gate agents process passengers faster and more efficiently and improve their chances of boarding a flight.

To assist gate agents with the boarding process, employees are now asked to be in the gate area at least 35 minutes prior to departure for domestic flights and 50 minutes for international flights. While the minimum time was previously 15 minutes, arriving 35 minutes prior to departure will assist gate agents, flight attendants and pilots with their continued focus on D0.

Gate agents follow a process called the “Countdown to Departure” to ensure customers – including nonrevs – and their carry-on items are accommodated on the flight in the proper order. Cooperation with gate agents and flight attendants from employees by following the time guidelines and accepting seat assignments helps put gate agents in a favorable position to hit critical points on the countdown to get a flight out on time.

Employees are encouraged to be considerate of other nonrevenue passengers by listing only for flights they intend to travel on. Nonrevs should avoid listing on multiple flights in the same market on the same day. Using online check-in when possible and only checking in for one flight from an originating city are also helpful to fellow nonrevs.

Nonrev travelers are always encouraged to have a back-up plan ready. If asked to split up when traveling with other nonrevs, be prepared with a plan of who will go and who will stay. Check the Other Airline page for details on eZED agreements with other carriers if Delta flights are not an option. Tickets for travel on most airlines can be purchased 24/7 on TravelNet from any computer with Internet access. The Delta Perks site offers employees hotel discounts for planned and unplanned overnight stays.

For more information on pass travel, see the Pass Travel Fact Sheets.

Granted, I'm not a Delta employee, but I don't think there is really anything in there that couldn't be mentioned in conversation already (that is, if you were to tell a buddy some of the rules of flying nonrev, for example). However, just in case, I removed the hyperlinks that go to DLNet. I'm guessing they wouldn't have gone anywhere if you weren't logged in anyway.

That's the right thing to do, Sponguebue. It's the issue of cut and paste copyrighted article from internal source--that's a NO NO. RM is retired and may not have read the DL policy on social media.

[QUOTE=ddagencylv;70497]RM. This is confidential and internal. Be mindful of security sensitive information.

I take issue with that quote: There is "NOTHING" confidential and internal about the posting that would be damaging to the Company moreover it would beneficial to the smooth running of the Company.... The posting was not copied DIRECTLY FROM THE DELTA WEBSITE ! Was copied and pasted off an email sent to me by a fellow Delta Pioneer ! Material and content was general information and not critical detailed Company data that would have comprised the security of Delta Air Lines ! The information that was in the Delta News would not have been readily made available to ALL of the Delta Non-Revenue travelers. Information such as this should be made available to ALL Delta Non-Revenue travelers post haste BY ANY MEANS so that everyone would have a level playing field in standing by for a seat. I.E. you lost your priority because you were not at the gate in the time interval required (35 minutes) and a junior lower priority traveler got your seat ! Oh and additionally sorry you did not get the privileged news letter because you are not subscribed to a forum or a website. GIVE ME A BREAK HERE! I as well as other posters here are trying to keep our fellow non-revenue travelers as informed and up to date as possible to make our travel benefits enjoyable; workable and functional ! Enough said !

Actually, not enough said, RMA. Your friend sent you a cut/paste that was lifted from DL website for employees/retirees, etc. Seems as tho it was intended to inform you, in case you didn't see it personally. That's a nice friend. It is against company policy to post direct quotes from the DL website. As I mentioned, I am guessing you didn't know that policy regarding social media. Please acquaint yourself with it. It is very obvious this was lifted from DLNet word for word; your post says that verbatim.
No need for !! and the shouting. I suggest you stand down and relax about this. After all this is the season to be jolly--Happy Holidays. All you needed to do was post a thread about the gist of the article to benefit Delta Nonrevs here who may not have seen it.
This update is also cited at DeltaNonrev facebook page (not copied). There are many comments you might want to read. I hope you do--there are some good, as well as some really ignorant people posting pertinent and impertinent comments. It can be entertaining, as well as frustrating to read some.
I think you're misreading the content, as it is a request to facilitate gate agents for OTD. Yes, there will be commuters/connectors at the last minute and they will have to deal w/consequences accordingly.
