We will be in Barcelona for 3 nights 10/25.
Can someone suggest clean, safe place with airline discount.

    Areas to avoid?
    Thanks for all your help.

    Sharon,
I am the author of the article Chris wrote about. When we visited Barcelona we had a reservation, but cancelled it because the Tourist info booth gave us a nicer hotel at a cheaper rate.
My Sister and I found Barcelona as safe as any big city. Just make sure you have good control of your purse, or better yet wear a money belt and leave the purse at home.
I hope you enjoy Spain as much as we did.
Let me know if you have any other questions.

While I've never been to Spain I do agree with Coyne that the tourist/hotel booking desk at most European airports and train stations offer some of the best deals.

We have travelled to Europe numerous times and rarely book hotels in advance. Only once did we have difficulty with a convention, so we just boarded a train to a neighboring city and stayed/toured there.

    Best of luck...
