    Sarah, Hi.
I know down here, some of the interline companies, or departments of normal agents that deal with Rail at least, offer ID rates, although they are not all that much better than the published rate. FWIW, the published pass fares aren't really too bad a deal for Euro travel and it *is* a fantastic way to travel.
You may also want to check out a website called Europebyair. It is a collection of independant carriers, some with good names/reputation and others that many wouldn't know of. They have a AirPass around Europe that is dirt dirt cheap and the website has a brilliant interactive map so you can see if the cities you want to visit are covered by these carriers, as well as see the routes from a particular city. While it is air travel and it loses the appeal of train travel around Europe, it's definitely an option to think about, particularly if your plans involve places like Spain, Portugal, south of France, Italy, the old "Eastern Bloc" countries, Greece etc. The sort of places that for train travel are a tad impractical on limited time.
    Cheers.
