I took photos of the Northern Lights, however none of them turned out as I had predicted. My camera is just not made for taking photos like that The Northern Lights are certainly worth seeing, even though I am still thawing from freezing so much out there in the open mountains! The tour guide had brought along some hot chocolate with cream with some Icelandic donuts It was a wonderful experience being with a group that also had hoped very much to come to Iceland to see the Lights.

Thanks Randy for the guesthouse recommendation We did stay at the Baldursbra. It was easy walking distance to the city. I was most impressed that my 16 year old son was so impressed with the guesthouse. He has only stayed in nice hotels in the past. This was a pretty no frills guesthouse, no TV, no bathroom in our room, no alarm clocks,no arcade downstairs, etc. My son said a couple of times why would anyone want to stay at a hotel vs a guesthouse. I was impressed that he liked it so much.

The swimming pools were amazing. We took a bus to the Laugardalur swimming pool. We could not believe the size of the pool, it was huge. We could not believe how popular swimming is there in the middle of winter when it is 27 degrees outside!! The water was very warm in the pool. However, getting to and from the pool, it is a bit cold!! They don't even allow you to take your towel outside with you!!!!!

As for those famous Icelandic hotdogs...UGH, UGH, UGH !!!!!!!!! ROFL, who in the world likes them??!! We took one bite and gagged!! We even went to one of the recommended hotdog stands, the Baejarins bestu. It was certainly an experience to remember!!!!

One other thing that was interesting was that the sun did not rise until about 10:45am. It was just odd being up and around in the morning and it was so dark. 9:30am would come around and it would be as dark as night! Even the city does not get moving until the sun comes out! We would be walking around the town at 9 in the morning and it would be so quiet and still in the city. That was an experience in itself.

Keep up that flying...now let's get those tray tables up again and get ready for MARDI GRAS!!! New Orleans here we come for Fat Tuesday
