    Hello,

    I am new to the board and I would like to go to Greece next year. This will be the first European trip with my husband. Of course a cruise would be the ultimate vacation but I am unable to cruise due to motion sickness. My question: What would be the best time of the year to travel when it's not so crowded and the flights would probably not be overbooked? I was thinking mid September and which islands? I was thinking Athens (2 days tops then perhaps Corfu and Mykonos. I would like to stay for perhaps 10 days.

    Thanks for your help

    Hi Mig emailed me personally and ask if I could be of help. I did go to Corfu and Mykonos and really enjoyed the trip a lot. I was on a cruise this time but have done the ferry thing too from Athens.

    Do the Cruise, it was a far better experience. The seas were not rough and you might be able to take some med or use sea bands if you are really that sensitive. I get more motion sickness from the ferry system than a cruise, promise !!

    I spoke to the Cab driver while I was in Corfu and he said the tourist trade doesn't really start until late May and ends in Sept. Most hotels and shops actually will close and everyone moves back to Athens for the Winter.

    FYI, I was there in May and most store were still cleaning up from winter and some hotels were still close.

    I own an interline agency so drop me a note if I can help. Cruise or other wise..

    I was on Mykonos in June of 2001, photos here;

    and go to Greece every summer at the end of June. You can count on only needing 2 or 3 days for Athens. Now Corfu and Mykonos are on opposite ends, with Corfu being in the Ionian Sea off the west coast of Greece and Mykonos in the Aegean Sea belonging to the Cyclades islands (these islands really party during the summer months).

    If you have anymore questions feel free to go ahead and ask.
