Hi, I'm new to the nonrev network, but coming up to speed pretty quickly. I would like to take my wife and 2 kids (one is 7, one is 1 and sits on a lap) to Moscow this summer, on the Atlanta non-stop (DL #46, Return DL #47). A friend is a Delta employee who has buddy passes. How many buddy passes would we need -- 3? 4? 6? 8? What's the chance of getting on the outbound flight in mid-July, and on the return flight in mid-August? Any thoughts and insights are greatly appreciated!
Welcome! I don't know about the loads on the new flight but I can help with the other questions. You will need a buddy pass for each person...including the lap-child. The baby will only pay 10% of the adult buddy pass fare, but still neeeds its own pass. Also, you will only be able to standby for coach because of the kids. Only kids over age 8 can standby for first and business class. Parents are required to be seated in the same cabin as kids.
One last note...you will need a Russian Visa if you are an American citizen which will run you $100 USD for each person...not sure about the baby. Check out the russian embassy in Washington's website.

Thanks a lot, Matt. Based in part on your information, I decided on a combination of paid fares and frequent flyer fares for the family. Miraculously, I was able to book two Saver awards for roundtrips to Russia, on the same flights as my family.
