We like to stay away from the crowds. Flying with 400 passengers makes us a bit crowd shy.
I'm a retired NWA pilot and like the out of the way places.

Found a great hotel in a tiny town called Telese. Near my wife's ancesteral home. Famous for it's spa's it is built around the ruins of a 5,000 year old Greek spa. The streets are nice, good shopping and fantastic meals. Lacking are a bunch of tourist. Italians from Naples and Rome go to Telese to get away. Meals are fabulous and cost one-fourth of meals in Rome or Venice.

Daily trains run from Telese to Rome. So you can stay in Telese and take the train into Rome to see the sites.

And, drink the local wine. Best in Italy.
A neighboring town, San Salvatore, has an 11th century abby turned into a restaurant. Very popular. Has indoor and outdoor seating. Right under a 16th century castle. The farmers plow around 2,000 year old Roman outpost ruins. Aquaducts run from the hills outside Telese to Rome.

The atmosphere at the hotel and town is so relaxing. Sleep in. No noise. Get up at 11 and
walk to town. Have coffee at one of the shops and plan some sight seeing.

The hotel to stay at is:
    Grand Hotel Telese
    Via Cerreto No. 1
    82037 Telese, Terme, Italy
    Tele: 011 39 082 494 0500
    FAX: 011 39 082 494 0504
    Email: grandhoteltelese@tin.it

    <a href="http://www.termeditelese.it/" target="_blank">http://www.termeditelese.it/</A>
is the site for the town and spa.

No english menus at the restaurants. Trust the
waiter to pick a good pasta and wine. The meal with wine will run about 10 bucks.

If you need someone to show you around, email me and I will see if one of the wife's yound cousins is interested in a job as a guide. They are learning english but their dad speaks english like a native.

    Enjoy
    Caio

Forgot to say. We never ate at the hotel. The food and atmosphere in town were so much more enjoyable and gave us the opportinuity to mix with the locals and try our Italian.

If you go, ask the hotel for a airline discount. Speak to the manager who they call the professor. Tell him Capt Williams recommended the hotel.
