    Hi,

I've searched all the forums here and can't find the answer to this one. I'm the parent of an airline employee (SWA) hoping to travel to France in September.

I note that Delta has a program for parents to fly space available but Air France does not.

How does that affect the flights that Delta offers to parents but that Air France actually operates?

I guess what I'm asking is: If I buy a Global Fare Pass from Delta, will I be able to fly on Air France with it?

    Thanks for any help.

I stand corrected if wrong, but to my knowledge, the fare would only be good on Delta operated flights. If the flight is a co-share and operated by another airline, you must be able to fly on that airline as well.

I hope that I have given you the most current up to date information.

Hey Paular, Thanks for your speed response. I expect that you are right, although I could not get a straight answer from Delta about it. I've seen previous posts about the difficulty flying from ATL to CDG. Is it hard to get a seat flying out of JFK? I'm going in September. Thanks.

Those Global Fare Passes are only valid on Delta. DL Codeshares do not participate.

SWA don't have interline agreement with DL.

Being AF a codeshare of DL, I avoid using them. If we (I'm a DL employee) use AF we have to buy an ID96 and they never upgrade us even they have seats available in BizClass.

What I do everytime I go to CDG, I fly to Brussells and take the Thalys speed train to CDG. It only takes an hour and the trip is very pleasent.

If the AF departures from ATL are a bit difficult, needless to say how they are out of JFK.

Flower is right...the "official" line is that AF will not board you. In reality you would probably get on out of Atlanta (coach as previously mentioned). You would ABSOLUTELY NOT get on coming back. In Paris, AF staff take a microscope to ID tickets. I have even heard them not allowing travel because of taxes not being calculated correctly by just a few dollars.

My recommendation would be to get the Global DL Pass and stick to DL. Officially the Global Interline pass is listed in rules as "Coach only", however as long as you are dressed right, you will automatically be put on the business class list...its just how it works at Delta. We do not look at the type of pass at checkin.

    Happy travels!

Thank you, Flower, for the information.

Would you say that the passenger loads in mid-September from any Delta Gateway City to CDG make it nearly impossible to fly Space Available?

As you can probably tell, I'm new at this. Any and all info and assistance is gratefully accepted.

Thanks for your response, Matt. I appreciate it. Frankly, I don't care how I fly as long as I can get on the plane! Maybe after 10 hours, I would though!
