My wife and I are hoping to non-rev to Venice this August. I work for Republic Airways and have travel benefits on Delta and United. Any recommendation about Venice in August. When is "peak season" in Venice." Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Scott

Hi Scott,

Venice in August is very nice. I was just there last summer at that time and proposed to my girlfriend! We flew Delta, me as an S3B and her as an S4, and were pleased to be seated in Business Class. I would recommend the later part of August as most Americans and Eurpoeans are back at work, or starting school. We flew out from JFK on August 15th and the plane was pretty empty. You can also leave from ATL on Delta. It looks like the Delta flights are much more full this year but I would think you would still be OK at the end of August. Just a note about Venice if you didn't already know....you really only need about 2, maybe 3 days MAX in Venice. We were looking to just relax, but you can really see A LOT in 2 full days of sight seeing. Also, the city shuts down pretty early so there is not a lot that goes on after about 10PM. We rented a car for a day while there and drove over to Verona and the Valpolicella wine region. We are from Sonoma County, CA so this was AMAZING! You could spend a few days in Verona and this area. Enjoy your trip! - Chris

United doesn't fly to Venice - In Italy we fly only to Rome out of Dulles. Usually we book passengers going to Venice on our flights into Frankfurt, then put them on a codeshare operated by Lufthansa into Venice. Check if Republic has an agreement with LH, because your agreement with UA doesn't carry over to codeshares.

Thanks for the info. I was pretty worried that the flights would be full. We're S3C, so hopefully we'll be able to get seats. Any recommendations on places to stay? We're loking at renting an apartment for a few days. I'll probably buy an ID90 on one of the codeshares as a backup.
Thanks

May not be interested in being this "economy" but I've heard you can get nice little clean rooms in convents in Italy. I think you can find out about it at http://www.ricksteves.com/
