Does anyone know the best option for public transport for TXL to Marriott Hotel? Just a last-minute trip today--I can't travel on crew bus. Please and thank you!!

Not sure where the Marriot is located, but the most convenient and affordable way of leaving TXL to get into the centre of Berlin is via the X9 bus. It departs from the bus stand outside the terminal and takes 15 minutes to get to the Zoo train station, which is a central transportation hub, with buses and underground trains that will take you to any part of Berlin. The cost of a one way ticket is euro 2.10. And the same ticket allows you to connect on on any mode of public transport within the city. Check the website bvg.de (also available in english) for a comprehensive look at public transport in Berlin. Enjoy the trip.

Thanks for the info--there was a transit strike so we took a taxi--not too bad @ 18Eu. The Marriott is by the Sony Center--Potsdamer Platz station would be final stop after transfer. Saving your advice for later!

Hope the strike didn't or won't spoil your visit to the city. If and when you need to return to TXL, you may take the bus number 200 from Potsdamer Platz direct to Zoo station. A few steps away from the drop off point is the boarding bay for the X9 bus to TXL. Have fun.

Thanks again, Frapos. The buses started running late the next day. Of course, the tourist ones weren't on strike so we took a hop on/off (wow--$20Eu each) but got front upper seats most of the time. We went that way since it started to drizzle some sleety stuff at Checkpoint Charlie. By mid afternoon it was sunny. I loved being able to see a city being rebuilt around history and progress! The Sonty Center and Arkade were huge complexes--I must say the food at the Arkade was pretty diverse and yummmy--everything from an oyster bar to wursts galore. With the steep prices and exchange rate, this little Italian place was a "bargain"--Osteria Caruso--Kothener Stra(what's that letter like a B or 13?--help!)sse ?? # 38 Am Potsdamer Platz.
    Good food/Proseco bubbly/service/deal/atmosphere etc.
