Taking a week long trip to FCO in February with my brother. We're looking for a cheap, safe place, in town, with two beds. I'm not into hostels... Anyone have any suggestions. We'd prefer to be able to walk around a lot and not have to take a train every day to get into town. <80USD would be ideal as he's a college student and I'm married to one, so money's tight.

Thanks!

take a look at the new Resx.com website linked thru travelnet
you have a pretty limited $ but you can also access accorhotels.com, use advanced search and our client code and our contract number
some of the mercure hotels hover around $80-100US double/twin
let us know how you fare--if you've never been, might suggest the Step by Step Guide (you can get it used on Amazon for $10)

I looked at doing this trip myself. The Mercure rates with our Accor code were quite affordable, only dice is quite a few mentions on tripadvisor of all the mercures being a bit far from the action

I should have given my post a *

I only tripadvisored the Mercure Roma Corso Trieste and Mercure Roma Delta Colosseo and people said both were a bit of a distance. Didn't check Mercure Roma Piazza Bologna...

The * being that I didn't maps their location, just relied on someone elses review

just recently came across 2 options but have not stayed in either YET:

la residenza roma direct request for airline discounts
Hotel La Residenza - Roma - The Giannetti Hotels Group

rex hotel prices are already fair, but I bet you can get better as space avail (ck their upgrades/specials)
Hotel Rex - Roma

booth are good locations with decent rates
