Default AMS End of Next Week?

I live in Orlando, but looking to fly out of JFK or BOS where there should be more flight options. We need to get to AMS the weekend of the 20th. Does anyone have advice on day of week (Fri or Sat) and route?

Don't look at number of options, look at number of seats. Would you rather have 100 oversold flights, or one wide open plane?

On UA, I'm not seeing anything on the 19th or 20th to AMS. There are quite a few seats from IAH on the 18th in J, but it's still early to know if they'll stay.

Just to get you across the ocean, ORD-BRU is also decent on the 19th, or there are lots of options to LHR.

Thanks! I do realize that there are very few non-stops, but it looks like there are a lot of flights going through LHR. I am also looking at Aer Lingus, through DUB.

Is Friday generally a better day to fly transatlantic than Saturday?

Can you do zeds? Consider other cities IF AMS is full. How do the numbers look? Have you done the AMS reverse search for flts on each day? Then check gateways from US. Some have multiple flts and others have flts on limited days each week. This applies to CDG but sometimes other cities are similar. AF, KL are our cheapest zeds, too. Doing a river cruise? Do you have extra days built in for arriving?

PS--don't forget DTW, MSP and EWR

OOPS--I just saw that you're B6. My post applies to DL and we have 15flts/day

Yes, we can do ZEDS - most airlines, but not KLM. I can check JetBlue flights for numbers, but that doesn't help for getting to Europe. I haven't asked for numbers on potential flights yet - I thought it might be too early. I know a lot of non-revs don't list until closer to the flight. I have found the most flights out of JFK, but looking at other cities.

Yes, we are cruising on the 23rd, and planning to leave on the 19th. We usually go a few days earlier than that, but we have a family reunion the beginning of the week. I hope that is enough time. We can move it up if we have to.

We have done this kind of trip many times before, but not for a couple of years. We never had any problems, but I don't know if things have changed with availability.

    Thanks for for your suggestions.

I know you cannot go off of these numbers but I look at all Delta direct flights from yesterday (Friday the 12th), out of JFK, ATL, DTW, MSP and SLC, all flights left with open seats except 1 flt out of DTW.

Those seats could have been open due to weight restrictions but nothing showed any standby not making flights. For what its worth, SLC had the best numbers but they only have 1 flight a day.

You need to check closer to the 19th/20th to see where you should try.
