I was discussing airline amenity kits the other day (I know, it's a thrill a minute at my house) and was told that BA has the best kit around. Now I hesitate to comment on the BA kit, especially since I've never seen one, but I will say my AA kit has served me well and is a staple in my carry-on. All of which leads me to ask the question, what's in your carry-on?
No need to mention clothes, etc, I'll assume that, I'm talking about the extras to make the flight comfortable.

    My bag
    <UL TYPE=SQUARE>
print-out of alt flights (miss my timetables)
    AA F/C amenity kit
    CD player/ CD's
    magazine and or book
    lumbar roll
    candy bar/snack
camera (you never know when a Thai Air 747 with an image of a gilded royal barge will be on the next runway)
    'just in case' tape[/list]
Also I would like to know what's in a BA f/c amenity kit, my friend says paper pajamas.(and you were wondering about the possible uses for 'just in case' tape.)

    1. Contact lenses, solution and back-up eyeglasses

    2. Name and phone list of everyone one you know. You never know when you will be stranded in a city and may need to sleep on their couch.

    3. Emergency rations, cereal bars, water and breath mints. This is a lesson learned after a 45 minute flight from Pittsburgh to DCA turned into a 6 hour adventure with no food.

    4. Reading and writing material. Time to catch up on those Christmas thank you notes that should have been mailed months ago.

    5. At least one OA back-up pass. Two is always preferred.

    6. Print out of alternate routings/cities for those times plans go astray.

    7. Small Atlas, so when I get a window seat I can pinpoint what river that is and how far we are from the destination.

    8. Hand and body lotion.

    9. Passport. Keeps your options open if an opportunity come to go to some exotic destination.

    10. Oh yeah, enough cash to buy lunch at the airport as you wait after being bumped off the flight you were standing by for.
