On a codeshare which flight status is the more accurate, carrier #1 "not likely" or carrier #2 (the operating carrier) "good"? Factor in, you're traveling overseas, there are only two flights a night and you're traveling with "I'll let you drag me out to the airport, but if we get bumped I will never ever let you live it down."

Edited to make the quote entirely accurate.

I would say the operating carrier would have better info than the codeshare carrier.

If you average "good" and "not likely" together don't you come up with "fair"?

Thanks Randy, that's my instinct too. The question is do I want to risk a lifetime of "I-told-you sos" on a "fair". Of course I could set you up as the fall guy.LOL

I would always call the operating carrier as they are the ones with the inside scoop.

    Thanks Donna
Now, would knowing these particular flights are handled at carrier #1 "not likely" gates make a difference...the plot thickens.

The operating carrier always have the best information. The same way how you have to call the operating carrier to list as opposed to the marketing carrier.

For Flight Status, can be had from the airline's Web site; it is cheaper.

ALWAYS operating carrier. Marketing carrier may have a hard-sell block for codeshare (ie. 30 seats) which when gone will show as 'flight full' in their system. In reality the ops carrier may have an empty cabin. Of course, if the carriers operate a free-flow marketing structure to their codeshare agreement, a different scenario ensues!! Confused?! Welcome to my world :-)
