Expect anything and everything. Bring prayer beads. And a book (or laptop to surf the internet) in case you get rolled over for later flights. I am usually spot-on when it comes to judging loads and getting on flights with my airline. Only twice have I gotten on to a different flight than I had aimed for. The first time my plane (7A HNL-LAX) had mechanical problems which ended up filling the next two flights (HNL-SFO and HNL-LAX) with the displaced revenue pax. I ended up going HNL-ORD which was okay since my destination was on the East Coast. Went from excellent shot at F to riding in Y, but at least I got Economy Plus seating, the one reason I am glad I work for United. The second time I was going IAD-LHR. But an earlier ORD-LHR flight had mechanical problems, so they flew everyone to IAD and I missed my flight as well as the next two. Got the last two C seats on the last flight of the day, which is good but I would have gotten F on the original flight.

Welcome aboard Horsefeathers and welcome to the nerve-racking world of non-reving.

If you want the nitty gritty details of what to expect at the airport click here First Time Flying Non-Rev, we covered the "down and dirty" in a pervious thread. While the nonrev article link is inactive, my tips are still golden

Good luck and don't forget those back-ups.
