How to get a headache in two easy steps---
1. Don't ask questions--
When I was initially asked about the possibility of passes (LA to New Orleans) in March, I didn't see a problem.
Then I was given the dates "March 19/20 returning March 23/24 or 25 -- dum da dum dum --
Easter weekend!
I immediately went into General Patton mode, told my six (6) D3's........ (waiting for the faint of heart to get up off the floor) that I would look at loads but I thought their chances of non-reving were "slim to none".
Now AA doesn't have direct LA/New Orleans flights (not news to this crew, they've done connections before) and bets were made on which group, the DFW or the ORD crew, would have the most rollovers. But as the weeks passed and the loads went from "maybe if you're real lucky" to "no way, no chance, no how!", I told everyone to get out the credit cards and buy tickets. Now do you think these "no problem with connnections" people bought tickets on AA.
Oh no, these "buddies" went straight for the direct flights on Delta and United (talk about a complete lack of loyalty).
At any rate, now we are at step two
2. Promises--
Yes I did say I would "try" to get to New Orleans. ( why I don't know) However, I didn't realize I was committing myself to "trying" over Easter weekend. Now do I even have to tell you how the AA flights look for this weekend; hey I even looked at LAX/ORD-ORD/STL-STL/MSY with a backup of LAX/ORD-ORD/DCA-DCA-MSY...and yes I am a glutton for punishment; but I came up empty handed. I even took the extraordinary step (for me) of looking at other carriers (thanks everybody ) but again no dice.
So, here I am, shuttling people to the airport and reminding everyone that sticking pins into a doll is no way to ensure passes in the future.
Boy, do I have a headache!
