PANTS, ZED is transferrable to different carriers if the other carrier has the same ZED agreement. For instance, a zone 1 ZED from PHL to CLE should be perfectly valid on both CO and US. Now, I believe that same zone 1 ZED should also be valid from CLE to PIT on either airline, but do NOT quote that. I've never tried and don't want to find out mid travel that I'm wrong. Again, the agreement must be present. Another example, I could purchase a ZED MDT-ORD on AA, but my back up would be UA, with which DL does not have a ZED agreement. So you're ZED is worthless to UA, and on that route, about 1/4 the price.

By "re-use" I'm thinking you mean try again. Of course, once you fly, the ZED is used. Should you not get on a US from PHL-CLE, yes, you can try again on CO. A ZED is good for 90 days from the purchase date. You needn't make any changes to try Sunday instead of Saturday. But the extra leg. ZED is per flight segment. For instance, QF flies JFK-LAX-SYD. To take that whole flight, you would need 1 ZED JFK-LAX, and another LAX-SYD even though its a "direct," or "through" flight. So your one backup would require 2 extra ZEDS. Nobody likes having their money tied up, but ZEDs are fully refundable, and I'd rather have to refund 300 bucks worth upon my return, than be stuck in BKK and not be able to purchase the one I really need.

And loads, FlyZED gives you an Idea, and this community is great to get loads checked. As long as you don't bug, I don't think it's much of a problem to call the airline and inquire about a load or 2, just have your record locator and be quick, efficient, and very nice.

Drew, don't look at seatcounter. It lies to you. Seatcounter will show you the authorized availability for each FARE class. F, J, and Y are the actual seating cabins, however there are very many fare classes. If the lowest fare class is showing 9s, then the flight is probably pretty good, as the lowest fare classes are the first to sell out. But, I've seen some international routes oversold by 5 with another 40 tickets authorized(so it would look great on seatcounter, but its oversold already). Again, done quickly and nicely, I don't think it's a big deal to bug a res agent quick about the load for a flight on which you are listed.
