Hey everyone. Well, I'm new to this site, but have been nonreving for a few years now. Zed fares are the best! But, can be confusing sometimes.
There have been several posts (all very informative, but some statements contradict each other.
My airline states, as an example:
------
An employee purchases a ZED ticket on American Airlines (AA) from DFW-HNL (Zone 5). The flight is full. The employee can then try to do one of the following:
Travel from DFW-LAX still on AA (reason: the routing zone is equal to or less than the zone of the ticket purchased).
Travel from IAH-HNL on CO (reason: we also have a ZED with CO and the zone is the same).
Travel on AA or any other ZED partner on a route whose distance is Zone 5 or less.
-----
Anybody disagrees with this? Especially the last statement? Some have said in other posts that city pairs must remain correct, and zeds would have to be reticketed for different city pairs regardless if the new flt was the same zone, and low/med/high zed rate.
So, on my upcoming flt from ICN to SYD (on Korean Air), I have a zed ticket which shows these city pairs, and properly states a farebasis of YIDZM8R2 (in other words, a Zed Medium Fare ticket with a zone 8 [mileage]).
With this ticket shouldn't I be able to use it on Korean Air (or even on UA or NW), from ICN-SFO, or ICN-LAX; since the zed rate (L,M,H), zoning, and agreements are same for all 3 airlines with my ICNSYD ticket? wow, that was a long sentence. haha
HELP! I'M CONFUSED
