Default Cancun during spring break season?

    hey everyone!

I think I may try to go to Cancun over spring break...but I wanted to gather a general consensus of whether to to try going or not..

I am going to try to take United from OMA the 22nd to the 25th...the loads are as follows...

    Business Economy
    OMA-ORD 6:01 7:28 06-00-00 - 060-053-00
    ORD-CUN 7:57 10:39 12-00-00 132-125-00
    ORD-CUN 9:03 11:46 12-00-00 126-118-00

    CUN-ORD 11:28 16:26 - 12-02-00 132-135-00
    CUN-ORD 13:44 18:32 - 12-00-06 132-138-00
    CUN-ORD 14:53 19:41 - 12-10-00 132-137-00

    ORD-OMA 17:30 18:58 06-02-00 - 060-059-00
    ORD-OMA 21:22 22:55 12-02-00 - 132-134-00

Think its worth even trying with these kind of loads a week before?
Risk booking a hotel in advance?
    Any other advice??

    Thanks for the advice!

Why stay out of Mexico? Do you think the cartel runs around the hotels there looking to take out Americans? Cancun hasn't really been effected by the crime experienced in other locations. Unless you are a drug buyer/seller or something I wouldn't worry about it too much.

I would wait till after spring break. I was checking flights to CUN just now, they seem a little to close for comfort for a nonrev. You wouldn't really have fun knowing the loads are tight. Wait till the spring breakers get done.

I hope drswift1 was referring to the teeming hordes of drunken American teens? Could be better choice to hang with the cartel! I'd rather have sharp stick in my eye than go to Cancun on spring break!! That's like putting me on a Disney Cruise--kill me first!!!!

Hey, I don't know how to read your United loads, but I say go if there are seats. Should be an awesome time if your in the 18- 30 age range. Try Perx or ID90 for booking. The Omni always seems to have deals. I stayed there a while back and it was very nice.

Let me first say that you are a brave soul to nonrev during spring break. I have done it twice - once to Hawaii and once to Florida. It's nerve-wracking to say the least. That said, if you are the party type, CUN will be great at spring break (providing you can get on and get back!). If you prefer a quiet place, you might want to rethink the destination. As to the hotel, I recommend booking a hotel in advance but make sure it is cancelable in case the flight loads change. I generally pick a place that will allow cancelation with a couple of days notice. If you can't find a place like that, you might want to find back up plans in case the flights are good but the hotels are full. Remember, this is spring break and the college kids are looking for hotels, too!

i traveled to CUN last year for work during late March from PHX prime time for Spring Break. I was on company business so I was positive space but let me tell you the flights both ways was jam packed. Spring break to Mexican beach resorts can get a bit iffy, CUN in particular as it is one of the most popular resort towns. I would not worry about crime in CUN, the city has been hardly affected by cartel related crimes.
