    Not permitted on DL
    but you can upgrade some fare classes with Skymiles
    (is this domestic?)
    No standby for flight for which you hold or have ever held confirmed reservation or ticket.
    No upgrade using employee status or pass privileges.

    I am pretty sure that is a no-no at any airline.

    I know of somebody getting fired at America West for doing that.
