Welcome aboard Wen. So you‘re gifting passes for a honeymoon trip(deep breath) my friend you are in for some sleepless nights - believe me I know. Now while I can’t help you with load history, I can tell you that honeymoon/beach destinations usually have a very low ‘no show rate’ so if flights show near full - believe it.
Preparing your pass riders
1- Promise Nothing-- By nature first time pass riders and honeymooners especially, are a very optimistic bunch, so just telling them that they could run into a bit of turbulence isn’t enough, you want to take those pass travel stars out of their eyes - starting now run possible worse-case, miss flight, bumped, weather delay-hurricane, mechanical problem, struck in airport, lost passport, and possibly buying their own last minute ticket scenarios.
Remember your goal is to prepare these two so well that no matter what comes their way, they can handle it - without calling you. Most importantly don’t lock yourself into specific dates, especially this far out, no matter how much they press.
2- Direct flight-- The best thing you can do for your own peace of mind is to get them on a direct fight - missed connections are the leading cause of the “What do we do now???” phone call.
3- Hotel-- Honeymooners usually make special arrangements with their hotel; make sure you have the phone number/email of a contact person. You don’t want the champagne on ice when your couple are cooling their heels in MIA.
Lastly, no matter now well you‘ve prepared them, expect at least one phone call/email. Hopefully it will be just to tell you they’ve made it home without a problem.
