Oooooo, if you can do that with eZEDS, t'would be awesome! But here's another question....if you cancel that ZED on EK and rebook on 9W, is that refund instantly credited? Cuz if not, it's the same thing (financially) as buying multiple ZED's. Convenience, however, will be much better since you can do that on the fly.

I don't think so. As I mentioned, I had 4 OWs on Thai. The payment was to TG, in baht (so I also had small foreign exchange fee) They were city/city.The system required multiple attempts to cancel and refund the tickets. I got a cancel msg but no refund. I think I tried for a few weeks before it worked. I am still waiting for credit from Thai (up to 45 days allowance) I won't be surprised if it takes that long.
myidtravel policy:
"Only flight and date changes are permitted.
Any other change requires a refund of ticket and purchase of new ticket."
No info on refund timing.

Maybe Thai is an exception for extended refund--good thing the total wasn't alot. I will post when we get the $ back!
PS--in case anyone didn't know--they take Visa and World Mastercard only

I have had the opportunity to use MyIDTravel several times, and I love it. I do not need to worry about loosing paper tickets and I can make last minute changes instantly. I know refunds on DL are instant on unused coupons, manual for partial segments once the journey has started. Many airlines offer the instant refund however a few still process refunds manually. On an unrelated note I want to send out a KUDOS to DL and UA. I just nonrev'd on both and must say that everyone who helped me or talked to me during my trip were fantastic.

Again ... depends on the carrier and your airline's bilatearl agreements. If your airline's relationship with EK, for example, is IET (meaning your employing airline issues the interline ticket for travel on the OAL, the traditioanl process but eTicket not paper), then the refund process is dependant on how quickly your airline issues the refund. If the relationship is not IET, thus the ticket issued by the transporting airline, in this case EK, then the refund is turned around based on EK's refund process. Same with form of payment, if your relationship is IET for employees then your airline issues the ticket so FOP is whatever your airline accepts. If its transporting carrier ticketing, then FOP is determined by the transporting airline.

In addition to refund and FOP, which I mentioned above, the currency in which the ticket is issued is also determined by who issues the ticket (i.e., the employing vs. the transporting airline) and your carrier's relationship with that airline. Tickets are issued in the home currency of the ticketing airline (determined by that airline's HDQ location). So TG would issue all tickets in baht, IB will issue in EUR, DL in USD, etc.

OK, thanks for those updates. Not convinced at ALL. As Mrs767er said, may take forever to get a refund. If I have the option, I'll stick with paper ZED's until this has a little time to get the kinks worked out.

Good luck with that since some airlines (e.g., BA, SK) are requiring eTickets if you want to travel on their flights. Others will be joining that list soon I expect as the cost of processing a paper ticket is getting higher and higher for the carriers and ZED tickets offer very little, if any, return on investment. In fact airlines are probably losing money by continuing to issue/accept paper.

From what I understand, all ZED members have agreed to go Electronic. This means carriers will use Myidtravel or ID90T for non-rev bookings. The deadline was April of 2012 for all carriers to be electronic but I think this was pushed back to accommodate the technology required to provide ezeds. Like anything new, there will be issues, but with time I think this will be great for all airline employees.

I just spoke to a friend of mine who works for KLM. She was telling me that EZEDS going forward will only work for the airline you book on. If you want to change airlines, you will have to go online, cancel your lisiting, refund your tickets, and rebook. I just helped a friend of mine cancel his EZEDS from JFK to CDG on DL. He booked on MyIDTravel, and the process was simple. You cancel the booking first, then you refund the ticket number. We hit refund, he logged into his bank account, and a few minutes later the unused tickets were refunded. I do believe partially used tickets take longer.

I checked on Thai Airways zed info/agreement page and they actually state 90 days!! for refund. Agent told me 45, so I'll stick with her estimate. We've only been waiting 20 days so far...
