Default LAN dress code - need to travel tomorrow

Two reservations agents at LAN told me that I could wear jeans and jogging shoes for my flight tomorrow. They know that I am an employee of another airline just pass riding. Can anyone confirm this? My google search shows "dress casual" but it's old info. Did they change their dress code recently? I am traveling with a tiny backpack, wearing a pair of hikking or jogging shoes. I don't want to be sent home to US, after traveling all the way to Lima Thank you in advance.

Where are you flying LAN to? Cuzco? We flew on Lan about two years ago or so. Lots of backpackers travel to cuzco not dressed to keen if you know what I mean. I would just have backups just in case. Don't know the dress codes, but we were dressed from our IAH-LIMA flight and just waited a few hours for our connection to Cuzco. So dress code was without question if anything, OVERDRESSED. I wouldn't take a chance about not making a connection because of a shoe situation or pants for that matter, or collar shirt. I know you are probably the type that likes to dress casual, but is wearing a pair of shoes, slacks and collar shirt that much like pulling teath? Good luck in Peru. You will love Machu Pichu.

What he said. Always err on the side of being overdressed as some airlines still have a dress code. I got denied on AirTran once because I had on jeans, had to go home and change. I was NOT happy. AirTran, wtf??? Not like it was Singapore Airlines lol.

When I nonreved on LAN I wore khakis and a polo shirt, I rather be overdressed than under dressed when it comes to standby travel. I would hate to be denied boarding on a flght due to not having the proper dress code.

If anything, carry a collar shirt, maybe a tie, some dress shoes, rolled up pair of slacks. Do a superman in the phone booth, change of cloth, and you got it. Keep it in a carry bag. When you get some static, just tell the lady that you can change in two seconds flat and that if she wants, she can watch! Well, disregard the last part.

Thank you all for your replies. I had to leave for my trip before getting an official answer from LAN, but here it is; "for economy, clean jeans and walking shoes are allowed." This was my first flight on LAN, but I was totally impressed; great airline and even greater employees :-)

Walking shoes? I would have thought all shows were made for walking- LOL!
LAN is a great airline, I found the cabn crew to be a bit indiferent/rude though. There was an elderly couple in front of us who were getting screamed at left an right for silly stuff. My partner was scolded for not ordering a special eal (which we couldn't because we were nonrevs). The rez people rock though, very helpful. It must have been a bad day for the cabin crew.

I usually dress casually with long pants pre-boarding. Once the flight takes off... well you could pretty much wear whatever you want at that point lol.
