    Default FrankenStorm

Anybody stuck anywhere? Seems like a lot more damage than expected, and I think it's going to be a while until the infrastructure is fully back in place to resume normal operations for many forms of transportation....

Hopefully nobody here lost anything or is too affected by this storm.

Lucky to get back to ATL from LGA on AA on the first flight Sunday AM. The last two flights were cancelled and flights after us only got 2 nonrevs on. It was a nail biter watching the flight go from wide open to only 2 seats left the morning of. Luckily, there were 9 no shows so 11 of us including an OAL pilot made it. An AA pilot was kind enough to take the jumpseat. My car would've been underwater had we not made it back. Luckily no damage or loss of power where we live.

I was in Wisconsin on positive space this past weekend, far enough from that impact, and Denver during the "real" storm, so I've been fine. However, I had to lend my laptop to one of our contractors that's been flying in from Boston every week to help out at my department. He and my laptop got stuck, so I've been sitting at work with pretty much nothing left to do. Thankfully, I kept a sharp eye on availability and was able to get him a positive space reservation back here tomorrow night (I've basically been the travel agent for these guys).

I was quite disappointed in all the hype with New York and New Jersey getting all the news coverage. I was really wanting to see other damage from Ocean City, Maryland, and other points more inland like Philadelphia, Baltimore, Eastern shore of MD, and Delmarva. Would have like to have seen more extended coverage than watching the same scene over and over on Battery Park Manhattan, the flooded subway system, the overhanging crane and Atlantic City's boardwalk in New Jersey. Grant it, the damage there was probably worse and more to talk about, but I would have liked to have seen other coverage aside those two states. I was disappointed with CNN and the Weather Channel, all only monitoring city of New York and stupid transformer explosions like it was some big deal. They even made a big deal out of cutting up trees on battery park with chain saws. I would have like to have seen better coverage on the snows west of the storm. They only talked about West Virginia, but would have liked to have seen better coverage of the effects further west like in Gary Indiana or Ohio. Very poor reporting aside New York and Jersey. I'm in Texas. Weather has been super, but going to warm up into the 80's. Luckily, lows will be in 60's when I work. Great working weather though I do prefer like its been this week, like 40's at night.

Looks like the Cape Cod and points west and south from the Cape like Connecticut and Narraganssett Rhode Island took a beating as well, but on the other side of the Cape, like in Boston, they got some wind and rain, but very poor coverage from that angle. I did see the waves pounding the shores of LYNN, MA on the news channel but they didn't get inasfar as damage or anything like that. I think Boston area came out of it all right (In comparison to Jersey, New York, Delaware.) Delaware is another one you don't hear much about. They are so small, and not as populated, why bother with reporting about them right? Kind of like me out on the islands back in the day. Who gives a flying trapezzee if a typhoon anihalates the living crud out of me in Guam/Saipan or out at sea? Guam? Where's Guam? On a gnats ass?

Speaking of Narraganssett, I do have two Lagers left.

Dude, what's Guam?? Is that a boat or something??

As far as the news coverage, I could see the national coverage on CNN or FOX News, which just showed ACY and NYC, but being that I live close to PHL and many locals vacation to Ocean City, MD, the local news showed almost nothing but local damage and Ocean City. They showed a bit of NYC and ACY, but I could just flip to Fox News for that.

Luckily I never lost power and didn't have any damage. Of course it's a bit difficult to get on an airplane in a hurricane when everything is cancelled, and being that I only get paid once I get on an airplane, this storm did prove to be expensive in that regard, but like I said, no damage or anything to fix, so I'm fortunate for that.

We'll see how flying goes today!

Yes, this Frankenstorm has definately cut in on our profit sharing. You know how the airlines say. They lost this and that, but they never mention that they didn't spend anything on fuel either. Anything for their leverage when it comes time to hand down the bucks. What? I feel a sneeze coming....aaachoooohhhfrankenbullshitgezundheit"!
