No East/West battle as I am Former AWA but there is not enough revenue for key growth markets, WF's (BA - LHR) and demand (Latin America) for it to stay the same. Last year it had 24,000,000 and remained flat but DFW and LAX grew 2-3% . Phoenix service levels could dip as well. Connections in DFW,with about 750 dailys would make more sense than conx in PHX, where US Airways has about 260 dailys.
