I'm from MSP, and the light rail there runs frequently, is reasonably priced, doesn't charge more to go to/from the airport, and goes to the two places most worth seeing in the area (downtown Minneapolis and the Mall of America). Oh! And if you can get your travels done in 2.5 hours, you can get by on only that ticket! Downside is that that's all it really covers, but it is expanding.

Denver now has a line going to Golden, CO (kind of on the edge of the Denver area, closer to the mountains, home of Coors brewery) and they're making good progress on the rail line to the airport. For now, there are a bunch of busses that are a bit overpriced. Here's a tip: take a hotel shuttle to the Doubletree or Holiday Inn on Quebec St (make sure you get that right, otherwise you'll be by the airport too far from anything good). Take whichever shuttle you see first. Once you get to the hotel, you're halfway to downtown and can pay the local bus rates.
