This is a general question. SKYtrain, Marta, REDline, Metro, MTA, BART, Ov-chipkaart, Underground, NJTransit, DART, RTD, CTA? What was the experience like?

I've used public transportation all over the place. Some areas stand out more than others. Obviously, the subway system in NYC has got to be the most proven and efficient system ever. There are others as in Washington DC that are more modern but not neccissarily more efficient. Bart I've used also. Very nice experience there too, a bit pricey too. In Houston, I've used the park and ride several times to go downtown. Very efficient and not a bad fare. I've used the monorail but that train ride downtown only runs about a couple of miles or so, not very efficient, they need to expand that experience some. I've used the rail system in Minneapolis, it was all right, but nothing to write home about either. I've used Chicago Transit Authority too, great system, from Chicago, you can to into Wisconsin and Indiana. Boston's MTA is very efficent, old and proven. Used bus system there and the subway system. I've used them in Miami, Jacksonville, Tallahassee. Best bus and train combination for me goes to.........I can't say. I think its always a great deal to ride public transportation because someone else gets to drive while you parlay.
Ok, I'll have to give it to CHICAGO.
Can't beat the air conditioned Bangkok MRT when it's 90+ degrees out and 100% humidity. Just wish it traveled to more places.

I'm from MSP, and the light rail there runs frequently, is reasonably priced, doesn't charge more to go to/from the airport, and goes to the two places most worth seeing in the area (downtown Minneapolis and the Mall of America). Oh! And if you can get your travels done in 2.5 hours, you can get by on only that ticket! Downside is that that's all it really covers, but it is expanding.
Denver now has a line going to Golden, CO (kind of on the edge of the Denver area, closer to the mountains, home of Coors brewery) and they're making good progress on the rail line to the airport. For now, there are a bunch of busses that are a bit overpriced. Here's a tip: take a hotel shuttle to the Doubletree or Holiday Inn on Quebec St (make sure you get that right, otherwise you'll be by the airport too far from anything good). Take whichever shuttle you see first. Once you get to the hotel, you're halfway to downtown and can pay the local bus rates.

Best bus ride
Actually mine’s a cable car- San Francisco’s Cable car. It’s expensive and you can just walk, BUT, when you visit San Francisco, especially for the first time, you just gotta take a ride on a cable car. I did, even hung off the side and the view down Lombard St with Coit Tower and the Bay bridge in the distance one of the best.

I got to say MTA New York is the most reliable. The JTA (JAX) and the RTC (LAS) might be the cleanest and safest I've ever rode. Runner up: METRO (MAD)
Welcome | Metro de Madrid
Transit | RTC
Welcome to JTAFLA
In the US, I have to say prolly NYC is the biggest and best. DC's Metro and Boston's T are close runner ups. BART is also ok, no issues with them. Matter of fact, I use them frequently, because my audiologist is in Oakland, and I'd rather not drive and park there.
As to Europe, DeutschBahn is pretty hard to beat. I feel as if I know the Rome Metro as good as my own driveway lol, and yes, BKK's MRT is quite teh awesome to cool down, but as said above, limited locations. Oh btw, Dubai's Metro is pretty awesome too!
Almost forgot about HK's MTA.....took me most everywhere I wanted to go.
