    Default InterLine Upgrade Policy

    Hi Y'all,

I'm trying out some interline travel for the first time this upcoming weekend (10/17) and am doing my very best to forecast my chances of getting on any one flight. I think I've got it figured out most of the way but have one big keystone of a question.

When purchasing an R2 Economy Standby ticket, will I get upgraded automatically into first/business class seats?

For instance: This flight is giving me a yellow straight face :-|
    J5 C0 Z0 W1 S1 A1 Y1 B0 M0 U0 G0

I read this as 1 economy seat and 5 business seats open. If only the one economy seat is availble to me that would be a :-( I figure.

    Any advice is appreciated,

    Olibabba

Good move getting your feet wet.
I see you’re with DL, it would help to know what airline you’ll be flying on, different carriers have different policies.
One thing for sure, “a yellow straight face” isn’t something I’ll want to put all my non-rev chips on.

    Thanks Flanker!

I'm pretty excited! I'm looking at KLM and Iberia as my top choices right now. It seems like there's yellow straight faces as far as the eye can see!

Depending on the city pair a lot of revenue pax get on the upgrade list at the last minute. I do not want to sound negative but this figure does not really good. To me there is a great chance that this flight is already oversold. I sincerely hope I am wrong and you will make it.
To answer your initial question, yes carrier have different policies QF for example would never do it and as Migflanker says the faces of myidtravel are not reliable.
    Good luck.

Olibabba, I need a bit more info. What airline are you flying? DL folks using leisure ezeds are not entitled to upgrades unless our travelnet agreement says so. I am aware of one AF emp moved up the list by DL but they may have been due to buddies? However, they were only upgraded to Comfort+ in coach.
Use your travelnet to get the terms. We recently flew Air Malta (KM) and bought rev tkts one way, but after a brief call to their tkt office, the good news was "plenty of seats" with yellow straight faces on ezed, we chose to go that way--about half price. Yep--lots of seats! We even got assigned seats before heading thru passport control. Do you have skype? Great source for contacting OAL offices. They are usually quite nice--use the term "staff travel" for overseas.

What does that have to do with DL emp flying OAL? Am I having a blonde moment?

Mrs767er - I looked closer at DLNet and found the answer! For KLM and Iberia it looks like economy only.

Thanks Zedman! I haven't put any money down just yet. I think I'll go with a different flight then the one I posted above!

    Thanks for the advice everybody!
