Default Any of you take day trips?

I often go to DCA, ATL, LGA, MSP as they are direct flights from IND.

MSP - light rail pick up at airport; takes you directly to Mall of America and downtown.
ATL - MARTA station at airport; hit the touristy stuff near Centennial Park
DCA - METRO station at airport; Smithsonian, Zoo, Arlington, National Monuments are all free.
LGA - taxi rides are expensive; NYC is always fun to visit. Took the kids to skate at Rockefeller Center last winter.

    LAS
    SFO
    SAN

    and
ORD - oh yeah, eight hours in the air- such is the irresistible pull of deep dish pizza.

I did Tokyo in 8 hrs just for Sushi. Land in NRT around 4pm and take off from HND around midnight.
Not quite a day trip as the entire trip was something like 36 hours, starting in SLC.

Have flown to SJC and drove to Santa Cruz just for a bike ride and returned that night. Santa Cruz bicycle company has demo bikes for $20 and a decent trail system, Wilder Ranch, just down the road so you do not need a rental vehicle that can carry bikes.

I will probably do a day trip to SFO this winter to demo a bike in Fairfax.

Back in the early 2000s, (that sounds so long ago), AA was running a promotion against B6, a fly 3 transcons to/from JFK, get 1 free ticket anywhere AA flies. They were priced about $200 each so I did a SNA, SJC and SEA day trip. Used the voucher for a trip to FCO (tickets were going for over $1000) and upgraded with miles both ways. Flight was completely full going out so made it worth it.

    All the time!

Even to Europe and South America.

LGA bus and subway is much cheaper than a taxi. Safe and easy to use too.

A couple of years ago my friend "Daniel Boone" did a bike ride SF to Fairfax, I opted for the wine trail tour. *cheers*
