In the old forum we had information on good day trips. If anyone has suggestions please add to this thread.

My favorite day trip is Chicago. Now that the EL goes all the way to ORD an early flight in and late flight out, affords a day at one of the greatest baseball parks, Wrigley, in the world. Also by accessing www.877chicago.com the free admittance days at one of their world class museums can make the trip almost free. Also we have a great expert in Randy who always posts the going ons of the City.

I have not done one in forever but one of the favorites of DL employees out of ATL is Washington DC. You can get the Metro right out of National and most all of the sights in our nations capital are free. It's a really rich experience for children. My favorite is the Smithsonian's Air and Space Museum. I can easily spend the whole day there. Be prepared for a lot of walking.

I'm almost hesitant to post this here because I want some seats to be available for myself but in Oct. Delta is starting a nonstop Atlanta to Key West with a 70 seat CRJ. The first departure from ATL is around 8:30 AM and the last return from EYW is 5:30 PM. It sounds like it will be perfect for a good snorkeling day trip which you can do year round in EYW.

Early last spring a new station for the train into NYC opened at the Newark airport. The monorail for the concources deadends at the train. For around $10.00 oneway the train takes you to Penn Station and the subway system.

If you are unsure what to do with a day in NYC I will be happy to provide you with 50-100 suggestions.

50 minutes and I'm at my favorite day trip destination Las Vegas. Usually I'm going over to catch a show so my first stop is the box office. After that depending on where I am on the Strip, I'll explore ancient Egypt, 'walk through' a shark filled aquarium , or step outside and catch one of the free attractions. I don't know, but I find it interesting there's a sea battle right in the middle of the desert five times a night. One of the best bargains in Las Vegas is the food, especially the buffets, for a sampling, check out the Las Vegas buffet site at
www.a2zlasvegas.com/food/buflist.ohp3 After the show it's the flight home and if I've been lucky my trip will have been on the house. BTW frequent Las Vegas visitors join 'hotel players' clubs (similar to frequent flyer clubs) so eventually Las Vegas day trips turn into great free Las Vegas weekends.

Coyne, I love the friendly confines, "Lets play two!"
