Hi all,

Name's Brian, and I was a temporary QSA (Quality Service Agent... the assistants/Unaccompanied Minor escorts every major hub has) at MSP for NW. Loved the job, and you can bet I used those free flights (even my supervisors were surprised at all the places I went to, including HNL in late June). Unfortunately, that job ultimately came to an end at the end of the summer, when I started school and the temporary position was done with.

These days, I'm going to school out in Wisconsin. Pretty decent area, and they actually have an airport to boot. Since it's a pretty small one, and the summer season was about over, I never really thought to even try applying. Yesterday, however, I lost a job I had for a little extra cash. Just for fun, I figured I'd try seeing if they had any openings for NW at the airport. The answer? "not yet." Not yet. Turns out, they have someone leaving in February. I figure that if they have a chance to hire someone with a good reference, already a registered employee, passed his drug test/background check, they'd probably take it, no? So, for now, I'm excited to be back in the wild world of the airlines, and getting the chance to nonrev again (even if just to fly home occasionally).

So, I've introduced myself, now welcome me!!!

    Hi Spongebue,

Welcome to the board! Good luck with getting back on with the airlines! Everyone around me thinks I'm crazy for sticking in the business, but when you have a passion for aviation, it's hard to see anything else. You're not going to school in River Falls, WI are you? I had a good family friend (who by the way flew 747's for NW) that lived out that way.

    Welcome again, and take care!

Sorry, not River Falls, but I have been through there before. The closest airport to River Falls would be MSP, anyway, and that's quite a commute.

Welcome to the boards. I remember finishing my first temp position as an intern at an airline and instantly feeling as though my wings had been clipped

Hope you get on board somewhere soon...

I haven't been on in a bit so I'm a little late but WELCOME! Glad to have you here on the best nonrev site around. There is nothing like working for an airline and I can't imagine doing anything else.

I guess I never did give an update on this...

I've stopped by the airport a few times since to talk to the manager, drop off resume, etc. Not really to bug him or anything, just had occasional questions. When March came, and there was still no call, I asked if there were any updates. Turns out, with the economy, the person decided to stay a while longer, but the manager is keeping my name and will give me a call as soon as something opens up. I hadn't talked to him since, until yesterday. I asked (out of curiosity more than anything else) if there were any updates, which there weren't. I then told me that he might as well take my name off, since I'd be studying abroad and didn't think he'd want to train me only to have me leave soon after. He knew what I meant, and asked when I'd be gone and how long. When I told him this Fall, just for a semester, his response was "yeah, we could probably work around that. I'll keep your name"

Given that he could have just as easily picked someone off the street... someone that had better availability (I'm a student and can mostly bid for nights, in addition to the >3-month absence) but he's still planning on giving me a call, I think this will work out pretty well, if someone actually leaves soon. Hopefully that will happen this summer, and I can take some small weekend trips (this time on DL, too)

Well, whaddya know. I got a phone call today, asking if I want to get back on with NW. Sadly, that was from my old supervisor, with my old job at MSP, not the airport in Wisconsin that I've been looking at. I'd love to take that job, but just can't.. already have a full-time job lined up here, and I actually have to make money this summer, unlike when all my paychecks supported my airport meals and trips I went on last summer.

Well, this puts an interesting twist on things. I have no idea what's going to happen to the current employees at EAU, nor do I have any really easy way of finding out (plus, if they are losing their jobs, it could be salt on the wound if I went in to ask), but this puts an interesting twist on things: http://www.chippewa.com/articles/2009/10/2...27751393258.txt

I'll still see what I can get when I come back, though I wish I could be working for NW/DL (XJ, technically) still. But I guess non-revving is non-revving (even if it means that if I wanted to fly home, I'd have to go EAU-ORD-MSP, which probably isn't gonna happen when it's a 100 mile drive ).

And yes, this is the same EAU that those NW pilots saw when they noticed they overshot MSP.

Upon checking out if a date for the changeover has been set, I found out that there are some job openings now. Guess what I spent the last hour doing
