Hi guys. I feel extremely lucky to find myself in the unique situation of being a work-anywhere telecommuter and having ties to an airline. I'm on a "working vacation", visiting family, as I type this . Unfortunately, not too many of my friends can muster up the free time AND the ability to affordably travel. I figure this is a great time to expand my circle of friends then. When I travel, I mostly like to make it active. My outdoor hobbies include kayaking, SCUBA diving, snow & water skiing, driving cars, motorcycles and bicycles way too fast, hiking and general exercise. I'm kind of a party guy, as I enjoy exploring the night life in new cities too. I've learned a lot, as I've been non-reving since 2005. Really happy to find this forum so I can share some of this good stuff and hopefully find a new buddy or two to roam the Earth with on a whim.

Thanks for the welcome. My ties to the airline come from my wife. My telecommuting comes from working as a network engineering consultant. Our worldwide sales team signs up clients, then they give the design work to my team. Since it's not practical or required for the designers to fly all over the place, we can do the work from a fixed location and discuss requirements via conference call and/or some sort of online collaboration tool (Webex, Netmeeting, Live Meeting, etc). She may be telecommuting soon too. Delta has started allowing some groups to do it. She's just waiting for it to roll around to a job she's interested in.

Interesting interesting. What does she do at an airline that would allow her to telecommute?

They are allowing certain groups of reservationists to work from home, Nick. It's oddly easier to do so as a part time employee than a full time one so far. Slowly but surely, we're hoping it will be her turn soon.

Interesting. I dare say I could do 90% of my work at home (res) but how would one's boss micromanage?
As for the load control and DG checks, well that might be a bit hard for now! My radio does still work at home though...
