In Juneau see Mendenhall Glacier and Visitors Center.

Near the port is a manned visitor's information kiosk. Ask them the cheapest way. If who I'm thinking of is still in business they'll point you to an old school bus nearby that charged $5 OW about 3 years ago.

Basically this info is the same for most ports of call. Find the town's visitor center and inquire about cheap tours. You can usually get the same thing from them for a whole lot less that what the ship charges.

Get a couple of do-it-yourself guidebooks like Lonely Planet and Frommers, which will list some of this info and ways to get cheap tours.
