    Hello all!

I am looking to nonrev to OGG with my wife and son anytime after the middle of April. Is this still considered shoulder season? Is nonreving even possible (everone should be back in school after spring break). Also, looking for a descent hotel with a good airline employee rate. I'm traveling with a 4 year old. Any suggestions?

    THANKS TO EVERYONE!!!!

Mid-April? I've never really considered Easter as "shoulder season". Personally, I'd go back to the drawing board.

p.s. The first couple of weeks of May are usually good. Just avoid the lead up to Memorial Day weekend and avoid June like it were the plague.

I am going to Maui in May. I am staying at the Whaler hotel for $180 per night. This is the employee rate. There regular rate $240 per night. The Whaler hotel is part of the ResortQuest hotel chains. The Whaler propery is Resortquest's higher end hotel. Since I am going for my birthday, I am willing to spend $180. I am usually more frugal and you can get room for about $120 or less. There website is www.resortquesthawaii.com they have different properties to choose from. You will need to call them and ask them for airline emp. rate. Also I have stayed at the Ohana hotel (www.ohanahotels.com) or Outrigger (www.outrigger.com) on the other islands and always ask for airlines rates. I have always found these hotels are pretty descent. No there not the Ritz or the Hilton but they are confortable place to stay and relax. Also if you ever book a resort and want unbiased reviews from guest who have stayed on the property. Check out www.tripadvisor.com and type your location and resort. I read the reviews on the Whaler and most of them seemed pretty favorable so that's how I decided to go with that property.

    3C Pilot,

are you an airline employee? or flying on an airline guess pass? It really depends on what airline your flying and where from the mainland (SFO, LAX, ORD, Etc?) your coming from. How many flights the airline has to/from your area? Also take consideration the size of the aircraft and how big the airline is (in terms of total # of employees). Easter is a busy time for non-rev travel as many employees and eligible family members take advantage of travel privedges. If you not an employee but only a pass travelor your boarding priority will be below airline employees. Buttom line check with the airline your non-reving on loads, how many non-revs are already listed, etc. Many of my fellow airline employees are non-reving to OGG and KOA in April during Easter week so far the loads look favorable. They are depart from PHX. I also recommend flying mid-week and not on Fri or Sat on Easter weekend. Good luck and hope this helps with your Hawaii trip.

For reference the Travel Industry rates and availability for Ohana Hotels (www.ohanahotels.com) and Outrigger Hotels(www.outrigger.com) can be seen and booked directly from their websites. Go to the reservations page and mark the appropriate tick box.
