After getting on with an airline with the primary motive of making the cross-country trek to see my kids more often, I often wondered if it was a devious counter-plot of the X to move them to that hardest city in the world to nonrev to. So this time instead of an S3 with 16 years, I'm using a buddy pass. I considered just waiting until I had some time to look for a special. I could probably find one and fly confirmed for $50-100 more. But the new job doesn't start for a couple of weeks and it will be a while before I will have any vacation. I decided to go for it when I saw some flights wide open. It would be in on a Thursday and back out on Tuesday. As usual that wide open flight was full by departure day. Towards the end of boarding I was 5th on the list with 3 seats remaining. Then they called the names of several passengers to advise they were about to release their seats. Thank God for a good hard early morning rain. I got an aisle seat.
That Tuesday flight back still looks great.
I also put Nonrev Network cards at every gate position all the way up to my gate which was at the end of the councourse. I gave cards to a few flight attendants as well. I've got a few to pass out on the return as well then I'll have to order more.
Having a great time with kids and grandson. I highly recommend Archie's Thai restaurant and their sticky rice and mango dessert. I haven't even been close to the strip.
