Hi All, I was wondering if I could get some ideas about day trips from DFW. I am trying to find out about places to go on a Saturday....leave on the first flight out and come back home on the last flight. It would be nice to enjoy a (new) city and come back to your own bed saving on the hotel. If I could avoid renting a car, that's even better. West coast destinations may be possible (LAX, SFO or even SEA) where there are red-eyes back to DFW. But I have been to LA and SFO and SEA maybe an option. I saw some discussions on MSY and MIA south beach which sounded pretty cool.

Any other ideas? Thanks in advance.

What about San Diego? Airport is realllly close, gaslight area is cheap bus trip away...dunno about flt options. SoBe is a pain to get from MIA--total horror taxi or car. dunno about mass transit?
SEA is one of the best cities I've ever visited over the yrs

I'll throw Chicago's hat into the ring. It's got great transportation, the loop and deep dish pizza. I call that a trifecta.

I put off going to SAT for years - went just a few weeks ago. Good day trip, catch the Alamo and the riverwalk... I went on a good $12 walking tour for 3hrs which gave the history of the Alamo and the districts surrounding it. Only pain is you need to cab it downtown as the bus takes a while :/

AUS is good, although let's say I preferred it at night rather than during the day Guerro's on S Congress is some of the best and plentiful texmex to be found... an FA got me on to it. 6th st at night.... goes without saying.

I'm guessing you've been to both though as I'm gonna assume y'all are Texan.

I always liked STL and MSY as day trips also. Been to STL three times and still haven't been up that arch or on the brewery tour (both have been full, or i've been staying at friends and we got there late etc.) My friends are about to be rehired at Trans States though so i'll prob get to go there and have one last shot.

MSY always good times - cafe du monde, antique shops, drink a hurricane, get a po boy.... more a food experience haha

If you're willing to go slightly further than this, I'd offer MSP. The airport is on the light rail train system, which goes to the Mall of America in one direction, and downtown in another (I'm the kind of guy that really enjoys walking in downtown areas, personally, so if you're into that MSP has transportation covered pretty well. Even MOA is a good day-trip on its own, though, especially if you've never been there.

Well, the world is your oyster!

I have done daytrips to such places as CPT, ORY, and LHR so you have tons of options.

If you go to AUS, definitely get some Amy's ice cream. There is even a location inside Bergstrom Airport.
