    <span style="font-family:Book Antiqua">Hi all,

I work for TAP Portugal and I am planning a trip to Miami in May. I&#39;d like to rent a car for a few days and I was told once that Alamo gives very good discounts for airline employees. I think the code is "W9" (if not please correct me).

Does anyone know if it&#39;s ok for a non-US airline employee to use this code? Does anyone have any experience with this?

Also, if anyone knows more discount codes with other rent a car companies, please let me know.
    Thank you.

You can try to see if it applies online--then show your ID if they want it
You can also register for e-z car (we use them in ATL ALOT!) and they have extra 5% for airline people)
I would guess you can also try interlinetravel.com free membership with links to airline discounts--Budget has always been a good choice--sometimes Dollar has good rates. Fla car rentals are some of the cheapest in the States. Since I avoid Miami like the plague, I can&#39;t tell you current price deals and I personally wouldn&#39;t drive a car there anymore, but that&#39;s just ME...

hotwire.com always has smokin&#39; car deals too (have seen low as $7/day for MIA) but you&#39;d have to check the fine print. And you don&#39;t know what company it&#39;s with before you book.

    Moises,

The Alamo codes you mention are specifically for non-US travel industry staff as they include all the collision damage waiver and extended protection charges as standard. I&#39;ve been using them for the last 15 years or so.
There are two codes to use :
&#39;W9&#39; is the standard &#39;fully inclusive&#39; rate that covers all the extra insurance type waivers you now need in the US ( which cost a silly amount of money if you have to pay for them separately )
&#39;RP&#39; is the discouned &#39;Alamo Gold&#39; rate which includes the above, up to 3 extra driver and a tank full of fuel
( the RP rate is well worth using if you have several drivers as its normally USD 9 a day each also you HAVE to pay for a full tank of fuel if you use the W9 rate so take that into account when calculatingthe price differential ).

    Hi Paul,

Thanks for the extra code (RP).
I was testing the RP code in the "ID/ID Corp" box and the difference between this code and W9 for a 4 day rent is at least USD 100 (for an economy car). Is it usually so expensive the difference? Or am I doing something wrong??

I would expect the difference to only be about USD 40 on that short a rental for a small car so I would check that you have put all the details in correctly. In general the difference is slightly more than the cost of a tank of fuel which you can select using the W9 or any other rate.
