So the rumors are heating up - Northwest/Delta, United/Continental - Who's next? Anyone?

What would it mean to 'us' non rev pax? Are you excited at the possibilities? Concerned about your job? A little of both? (like me!)

Note that if you have 'inside' information, respect your non discloser rules and keep the lips zipped - Opinions are welcome though..

I wonder if a merger is worth it, to have made Rep. Oberstar an enemy? I would think we (Delta) would rather have him on our side.

I had a guy call me late last night literally screaming at me because he had made a reservation on Delta for June, demanding I tell him how NW - namely I - would protect his reservation.

I tired to tell him I knew as much as he did (especially if there was any announcement last night on the news as I work from 5PM on) but he just kept getting crazier and madder - I finally had to just release the call - number 3 in 6 months....

I am very curious myself. Continental and United do compliment each other as far as the routings go. Other than that we are almost polar opposites. If there are any United members in this forum I would be curious to know how your pass privileges work on United.

We haven't heard Diddly squat here - of course, I was in NYC for a couple days and haven't seen anything at work....

Rep. Oberstar keeps speeking in generalities. He says mergers never work, having forgotten how successful the DL/WA merger was. I wonder if he would be objecting as loudly if it didn't concern his hometown airline?

Just an update. Things seem to have slowed to a crawl or stopped altogether. The two pilot groups are trying to work out seniority issues, but, to me, I don't see how both sides will ever come together on that matter.

I was around for the DL/WA merger but don't know how they handled the pilots' seniority. Anyone on here know what happened there?

Interesting to look 'back' and see that a lot of the musings/predictions have come to pass (ie, the name of the newly merged company, the fact that Delta staff will know more than NW staff )

I guess they are speeding up the pass sharing process to help smooth along travel for employees - kinda a nice way of getting more acquainted with each other as co-workers as apposed to 'competitors' (Yes, we're the red arrowed step brothers of Delta now - be kind! )

I wonder if NW airline 'mementos' will become collectible? It's the end of an era after all -
