For the most part, they accept a printed PNR but on occassion, you run into a numbnut that is behind the curve ball on the matter and they are the ones that can present a problem. One time in Nagoya, I had to sit down while they called my airline rep to hook me up because I was not listed, since my main mission was to get to Japan but it got sorted out. I would have preferred to have had my ducks in order before I went there but I had no option at the moment. Most car rentals understand SPACE A travel and hotels too. The hotel in Honolulu even told me that if I didn't make my flight, that I could just call and cancel with no problem. But there is always an exception to the rule depending on where you go and how they handle things in their country. Like I said before, in NRT, they asked for boarding passes, and I presented my company ID card, I knew the guy was totally lost and just confused as ever but he let me slide without any problems. One gung ho dude could have made life difficult though.
