How does one fulfill some country's entry requirement of a return ticket? I've been looking over entry requirements of various countries and in Japan in particular they require that you provide your return ticket home before you can clear customs. Now, I've encountered this issue in the past with car rental places wanting to see a return ticket because I use a debit card for the reservation, and it's always a pain in the butt with varying degrees of resistance from city to city. All I really have to show for my travel plans are my Southwest ID, as that's all that's required for us to fly. Does a ZED ticket do the trick even though there is not a specific date printed on it? Do customs in foreign countries have an understanding for airline employees that they do not fly on traditional tickets?
