Default Anybody ever suffer from jungle rot?

Anyone here ever been exposed to "Jungle rot", other known names...."New Guinea crud", or just plain fungus? You know you are in a tropical enviroment. Usually it takes a few weeks in country so chances are you won't get the exposure for a couple of days visit, but let me tell you, that is some serious NASTY stuff. A rash in steroids. I had it once under my armpit and I scratched for days before I finally got a cream medication for it that got rid of it. It was so bad, it was visible for at least two years after it went away. Like, white skin used to colder temperatures and no real heat, suddenly gets thrown into tropical enviroment, the bugs and fungi are like....."Get a load of this soft skinned white boy, lets break this guy in real good.....its a free for all..." You get this stuff where your skin doesn't get much exposure to air like the crotch is an excellent place for habitat, under the armpits, in the toes. Mine was under the armpit so I got it good compared to others I have heard about.
It took me months to finally get a hang of dealing in the tropical weather. I learned using powder after showers was always good for keeping skin dry. Also to wear different clothing such as cotton made fabrics, and nothing ridiculous like polyester in the tropics. No tight sneakers or tight underclothing. Also got the hang of the creamed medication that is great for it. I find it today in the dollar store. The main ingredient in it is called CLOTRIMAZOLE. You can find it at Walgreens but you pay around 7 bucks a tube. The dollar store I got a tube of this ingredient but the brand is by Natureplex called ATHLETES FOOT ANTIFUNGAL CREAM, for only ONE DOLLAR. I buy them in 3's at least for summers in Houston. Believe me, works for all other areas because that tropical jungle rot is a FUNGUS. To get rid of fungus, a regular anti-itch cream won't do the trick. Must have that ingredient of Clotrimazole for me in order to work.
So take care of your fungus situation when it comes up in a tropical place. Get it taken care of right away because the scratching is very painful and uncomfortable. It makes a summer rash feel like a carnival ride.

Not a laughing matter when you got it, but funny when someone else gets it. About the most other uncomfortable situation I have ever run into was those rotten sand fleas in Parris Island, SC, in the dead of July.

Awesome! You've put a scare into me! I have a bit of moving around mixed in, but in general I'm pretty much stuck in northern South America for the next 2 months.

Already being feasted on by the misquitos..

Must be in Venezuela or Colombia. Not a problem so much up in altitude, but if you got lots of humidity, and hot climate, you better watch out. Take this tip if anything happens to you with a case of the jungle rot. Just go to your local farmacia, (Pharmacy) and they got them all over the place in South America and pick up a tube of CANESTEN. Here is a link to show you the brand. I never seen it sell in the USA under that name brand, but like I mentioned earlier, Walgreens has a brand called CLOTRIMAZOLE which is actually the name of the anti-fungal active ingredient. So Canasten has the same properties, and it works great. Here is a link to show you what the product looks like......you don't need to look any further than that product to clear your situation, just may have difficulty reading instructions, but all you gotta do is apply it twice a day, and keep doing it for two weeks after the fungus disappears.

Here is a link to show you the cream I buy at the dollar store, so much cheaper than Canesten which may run you some 7 bucks per tube, very small tube. I only pay a buck for this brand. If you see it, snatch about ten of them.

And lastly, if you can't find either or of the products, go to Walgreens in the states, pick up this product called Clotrimazole...here is that link.
