The Red light Green Light customs screening is gone. Didn't even check my carry on and shoes. Yes Mexico has is problems (borders)but they protect there resorts $$$ especially Puerto Aventura, R. Maya, Playa D.C. , Tulum. FYI, even with your senority, if oversold, Skyteam Partner AeroMexico takes great care of us. Flight every other hour to MEX.

We still have a nonstop once a week from CVG!
So many DL gateways for CUN.
I didn't see the red/green the last few trips. We typically go in May to Hacienda Tres Rios (for our anniversary--5/5/5 Cinco de Mayo por Us! haha) I highly recommend it for the food alone. Chef Oskar sometimes takes his vacation--we missed his personality last trip. They pamper you all day long at the pool, all teh activities are included--snorkeling in their cenotes, kayaks, bikes, etc. Night life is not a priority, but you can get wiped out with pool activities, food and drinks pretty fast! Great suites, too.

Wow interesting mrs767. I usually stay at Dreams and I thought about Hacienda but reviews were just ok. I will rethink that hotel in Sept. when all kiddies are back in school and folks are back to work. lol

Actually, we've hardly ever seen kids at HTR. I checked and it was 3 times in May and once in fall. School is still in session in May. We've been there 4 times and most of the ok reviews are from timeshare folks who don't take the all-inclusive pkg and object to the pitch. They have never bothered us. They ask on arrival and we decline--nuff said. The TS guests also get the cheapest low floor mangrove rooms and gripe about the view/bugs. If you're beachy, I can see objections due to the river effluence.

Sat is the nonstop--they add more seasonally. DTW has some, along with MEM, MSP, and of course ATL has multiples. I just go to the DL.com map and start with CUN. Love those things!

    Congrats to you ATG-DL!

We honeymooned in Bonaire, which is similar to Aruba in climate. We chose it for reasons like you, that it is not crowded like typical honeymoon destinations. Great beaches, snorkeling, and diving, and very low key and quiet. Only issue is that there is currently only one flight per week.
We nonreved to our honeymoon and had zero issues. Flew LAS-FLL-MIA-CUR-BON-CUR-MIA-FLL-LAS.
    Have fun wherever you go!
