That is probably true, but I also think that some like to improve scores in the forum. To gain a certain status. Like the top ten contributor or top ten this and that. I mean, they actually work at it. Am I the only one that this type of behavior is annoying?

I get what you're saying, and being one of the more active posters I may not be one of the best to be saying anything, but as far as I know there isn't any place where you can see who is "best" - but I can tell you it's probably me :-P

I'm not implying anything on this forum regarding above mentioned. I'm referring to the Virtual Tourist web site. I mean, you have all types of people posting in there but some are very concerned about their "RANKING STATUS" on that web page. You increase your ranking/rating by posting hints of where to stay and rating hotels ect.....I could care less about what my ranking is. Some in there are really into improving their scores. I don't know what's in it for them. A watch? A travel coupon? I mean, I asked a question in there, and when I thanked the person, she came back and wanted me to rate her answers.

Your VT Rank shows where you rank as a travel writer within the VT Community. Your rank is based solely on the ratings that your tips receive. The lower your rank, the better you're doing - the best ranked member is #1. The best way to improve your VT Rank is to write fresh, helpful high quality tips.
Your Forum Rank shows where you rank as an expert answerer in the VT Travel Forums. The best way to improve your Forum Rank is to offer timely, accurate and helpful travel answers.
Rank is subjective - based on other members opinions of contributions; mostly it’s a fun way to see how you're progressing. Rank is calculated each week and updates on Monday.
    What about the Stars?

    • Gold Star = Top 1,000 Members
    • Silver Star = Top 5,000 Members
    • Bronze Star = Top 10,000 Members

    Can I get a GOLD STAR? Can I Can I ????// Please?
